Altamont, Tennessee – Mr. Johnny Merlin Turner, 65, passed away Tuesday February 21, 2023, at his home.  He was born in Grundy County on May 14, 1957, to Warner Turner and Jessie McCormick Turner who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Mann Jr. and Bob Turner; sisters, Mae Thomas, Anita Hill and Shirley Fitch; daughters, Cindy and Tena Layne; and an infant grandchild.

He is survived by his companion and mother of his children, Joyce Fay Layne; sons, Carl, Bobby and Danny Layne; daughters, Teresa Cox, Lisa Layne and Michelle Layne; 25 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Jim King officiating with burial to follow in the Altamont Cemetery.

Visitation: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee.
